Planting Cannabis In 2017
The first decision that needs to be made when growing Cannabis seeds is to decide whether you want to grow. There is more than one way to grow Cannabis seeds but it certainly can be kept simple and effective.
Whether you are growing inside or outdoors, the first thing you will need to do is to germinate the Marijuana seeds that you wish to grow. There are several methods for germinating Cannabis seeds, you could use the natural outdoor method of planting the Cannabis seeds directly into the soil, about two centimeters deep, cover the seed and keep it warm and watered. A cut plastic bottle or glass jar turned upside down makes a great miniature greenhouse, trapping moisture and warm air. After three-four days the seed will have germinated and sprouted, although some seeds and strains require a day or two longer.
An additional option to germinate Cannabis seeds is to soak the seeds inside several moist paper towels. You can also use a damp sponge for this. Then keep the paper towels or sponge moist after two-three days you should see the main tap root appear. They could sprout within 24 hours while others may take as long as a week. Once the seeds have germinated, you should plant it into the soil. It is important that you plant the seeds as soon as it begins cracking open to allow the tiny sprout to emerge. Do not allow the soil to dry out during these vital first few days, and make sure it is covered on the top.
New Marijuana seedlings require plenty of light once they begin to grow. The lights should be as close as possible to the soil, and should be kept about two inches from the tops of the plants to encourage good, strong growth. Some people allow the young seedlings light for twenty-four hours a day for maximum growth, while others grow under eighteen or twenty hours per day, believing the young seedling requires a rest period.
After the marijuana seedling has produced roots and developed its initial leaves, growth will happen rapidly as the plant begins to increase it’s leaves and branches. This phase of fast growth is called the vegetative stage, and is very important in creating a large number of budding sites Its stem will be getting thicker and stronger, and it should be producing new leaves at an increasingly fast rate. The vegetative stage is very important in allowing the plant to absorb as much sunlight as possible (as the leaves absorb this energy), and therefore will contribute to a healthy flowering phase later needing all the energy it had acquired. A bigger cannabis plant produces more and bigger buds, so you should take the vegetative stage seriously.
That being said, you can only grow your cannabis plant to use as much space as you have in your home. If you just want a small plant for personal use of marijuana, a vegetative time of around 4 weeks would be required. Sea of Green growing techniques often require just two to three weeks of the vegetative phase and still get a reasonably good amount of buds at harvest.
More experienced Marijuana gardeners use training methods to get their plants to grow outwards rather than upwards, this substantially increases the amount of growth without growing too huge for the growing space available.
If you are planting marijuana seeds indoors, you are responsible for everything. The soil, how much to water and the Ph levels, the nutrients, and most important, the artificial light all come from you. Because marijuana plants respond to the amount of light they are receiving, as you move from the vegetative stages into flowering you will have to change the number of hours of light that your plant is exposed to it is the increase in the amount of hours of darkness which activates the start of the flowering stages.
The flowering stage is activated by reducing the exposure of the cannabis plant to 12 hours of “sunlight” (or lamp-light, as it were) and, 12 hours of continuous darkness. During this stage it is important that the darkness is complete and allows no light to penetrate, as this will cause the plant to stop entering the flowering phase. During this time it is also important that the Twelve light hours the marijuana plant receives should be as strong as possible to maximize growth.
The main advantage of growing indoor potted marijuana plants is that you can move them to wherever you want it, whenever you need to. In this case, before you start triggering the plant to enter the flowering stage you should move it to some sort of enclosed location, such as a cupboard or small room. There, install the artificial lights you have selected so the plants receive 12 hours of light and 12 hours of darkness without an interruptions. Using an outlet timer is probably your best choice as it leaves out the chance of any mistakes..
Complete and total darkness is essential in the flowering stage. If there is any light that gets into the growing area (i.e. if you accidentally open the door during the 12 hours of darkness), even for just a moment, the plants will begin to get confused leading to them becoming stressed. This stress can cause all sorts of problems, one of which is the plant developing into a hermaphrodite, or you may have a lower quality and lesser harvest at the end. The flowering stage usually lasts approximately 8 -10 weeks, and it will remain in this phase until the harvesting time has come.
